Delaware Law welcomes legal grad students

1/9/2017

Delaware Law School recently welcomed legal graduate students from abroad who will be participating in the popular LLM and pre-LLM programs during the coming spring semester. Brief welcoming remarks and a luncheon marked the occasion.

Dean Rod Smolla offered a few brief remarks to open the festivities, saying of American legal education and the way American lawyers think, “Here, nothing is ever settled, and nothing is ever clear. This is a fascinating legal system and our rules are always evolving.”

This fall’s LLM and pre-LLM students hail from a host of countries. Several have chosen to live in campus housing, but are taking advantage of the law school’s online general LLM program, which can be pursued remotely from anywhere in the world.

The Graduate, International, Compliance & Legal Studies administrative office coordinates the LLM and pre-LLM programs at Delaware Law School. The university’s International Student Services and Programs Office on the Chester campus supports the program and issues immigration documents needed for students to obtain visas to study in Delaware.

In addition to the Dean, the new students heard from several of the Professors who will be teaching them this semester, including Judge Wendy Roberts, Charles Proctor, Eileen Sutton, and Paul Regan. Finally, three students already studying at Delaware Law spoke a little bit about their experiences.
