HIGHER EDUCATION COMPLIANCE DEGREE OPTIONS
Master of Jurisprudence (M.J.) in Higher Education Compliance
The master of jurisprudence (M.J.) degree is designed for students who hold at least a bachelor’s degree. No prior legal knowledge is needed, as students will be introduced to the U.S. legal system, including the sources of our U.S. laws, finding and analyzing statutory laws and regulations through legal research methods, reading case law from the courts, and writing with an eye towards critical thinking and analysis. The M.J. degree curriculum then takes students through the laws and regulations impacting colleges and universities, while working through the elements of an effective compliance and ethics program.
To earn the M.J. in Higher Education Compliance, students are required to complete 29 credit hours of coursework. The degree is intended to be completed on a part-time basis within two years. However, students may work at their own pace and complete their degree full time in as little as one year, or take as long as five years.
Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Compliance
Delaware Law’s graduate certificate in higher education compliance is designed for students who hold at least a bachelor’s degree and may already have some knowledge of the U.S. legal system. The certificate courses focus specifically on the laws and regulations impacting colleges and universities, while working through the elements of an effective compliance and ethics program.
The Higher Education Compliance Graduate Certificate requires the completion of 15 credit hours of coursework, and can be completed in two academic semester.

Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Higher Education Compliance
For students who hold a U.S. law degree or foreign-trained lawyers who hold a degree from a qualifying non-U.S. law school, Delaware Law offers the master of laws (LL.M.) in higher education compliance. This unique LL.M. program offers attorneys the opportunity to expand their current legal knowledge and skills with a specialized focus on the laws and regulations that impact colleges and universities, while working through the elements of an effective compliance and ethics program.
To earn the LL.M. in Higher Education Compliance, students must complete 24 credit hours of coursework within four years. Foreign-trained lawyers are required to take Introduction to Law and Legal Research and Writing. Learn more about our online LL.M. programs.
