Delaware Law is proud to celebrate Professor Jennifer Morrell's recent achievement of receiving the Founder's Vision Award from the National Law School Veterans Clinic Consortium. This prestigious award is given to professors and staff attorneys who have made significant contributions to the veterans clinic community, demonstrating dedication and impactful work in teaching students, providing legal services to veterans, and improving systems serving veterans.

Professor Morrell, who leads the Veterans Law Clinic at Delaware Law, has been instrumental in advancing the rights and benefits of low-income and disabled veterans. The clinic, one of the first of its kind in the nation, was established nearly 30 years ago and has since recovered $17 million in benefits for its clients. The clinic also assists with discharge upgrades and simple wills, while engaging in policy and leadership efforts through the Consortium.

Morrell's unique background in creative writing and literature enriches her teaching and advocacy work. With an undergraduate degree in English and prior experience as a business writer and copy editor, she brings a nuanced perspective to her legal practice. Morrell has been "writing creatively my whole life," which she believes enhances her ability to connect with students and clients on a deeper level.

In 2024, Morrell's literary talents were further recognized when she was awarded a fellowship by Delaware’s Division of the Arts. The fellowship acknowledges artists for their outstanding quality of work, and Morrell's creative writing stood out among submissions from 149 Delaware artists. Her work will be featured in the Award Winners XXIV exhibition at the Biggs Museum of American Art and will travel to CAMP Rehoboth and the Cab Calloway School of the Arts.

This recognition not only highlights Morrell's artistic achievements but also underscores the importance of diverse skills in the legal field. Her ability to blend creative expression with legal expertise exemplifies the innovative spirit of Delaware Law and its commitment to fostering multifaceted professionals who make meaningful contributions to their communities.
