Professor Griesmer received a B.A. cum laude from Vassar College in 1989, and a J.D. from Temple University School of Law in 1992. Following graduation from law school, Professor Griesmer served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Mary D. Colins, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas from 1993-1994, and Assistant Public Defender of Chester County from 1994-2001.
Professor Griesmer has been teaching in the Pennsylvania Criminal Defense Clinic at Delaware Law School since 2001. In this clinic, third year law students represent indigent clients charged with crimes in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
Professor Griesmer is a co-founder of Innocence Delaware, the non-profit partner of the law school, committed to the release of people unjustly imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. In conjunction with the project opening in 2020, Professor Griesmer began teaching in the Innocence Delaware Legal Clinic.
Professor Griesmer also teaches an advanced Criminal Justice Policy course under the auspices of the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program. In this course, Professor Griesmer takes her law students into a local prison where they form a joint class with a group of students who are incarcerated.
Professor Griesmer is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania. She teaches and writes in the areas of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Racial Justice and Trial Advocacy.
