Our Story

Since our first graduating class in 1975, Delaware Law has been a trusted regional resource, producing over 12,500 alumni. Many have risen to leadership roles, including past and current presidents of the Delaware, New Jersey, and Philadelphia bar associations, and more than 200 judges, with sitting Justices on both the Delaware and New Jersey Supreme Courts.

Our faculty is renowned for engaging classroom discussions and influential scholarship, frequently cited both nationally and internationally. Their collaborative work with jurists, practitioners, students, and alumni addresses complex legal issues with innovative approaches, recognizing the law’s evolving nature in meeting the challenges of each new generation.

“Delaware was the first state to ratify the Constitution. Despite its small size, it has a large presence in the law and a very sophisticated bar. The ultimate point of the law is to promote justice, and lawyers are the guardians of justice in our society. Being a lawyer is a great privilege, a great honor.”

-Alan Garfield, Professor of law
