Judge Erin Bruno received her Bachelor of Arts from the Robert E. Cook Honors College at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her juris doctorate from Boston College Law School where she participated in clinical programs providing criminal defense to indigent persons in at-risk communities. After graduation, Judge Bruno clerked for the Honorable Judge Denis Cohen in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. After that year, she joined the Chester County Public Defenders' Office where she spent 16 years providing indigent defense in matters ranging from preliminary hearings to death penalty cases.

Due to her abiding commitment to ensuring justice for those in the community with the least access to resources, Judge Bruno made the decision to run for an open Magisterial District Court Judge seat in 2023, and was sworn in January of 2024 to preside in judicial district 15-4-03. In addition to running an efficient but compassionate courtroom, Judge Bruno continues to participate in assisting with her local bar association as the co-chair of the membership committee and assists with the local West Chester University Mock Trial Team preparation. Her desire to help train curious and competent practitioners led her to the Delaware Law School where she is teaching her first semester of Legal Methods III. She hopes to continue to lend her assistance to burgeoning attorneys at Widener.
