Orientation is the first step in your law school journey, and we can’t wait to get started! From introductions to case briefing and exam taking techniques to wellness and academic support programs, we have designed an Orientation program to provide you with the tools to succeed in law school. Welcome to all incoming students! Orientation is led by the Office of Student Affairs. Have questions about Orientation? This Office is your go-to support. Information pertaining to Fall 2023 will be posted throughout the spring.
Orientation for first-year students usually begins in early/mid-August and lasts for several days. Please check back for dates.

Student Health Insurance Information
The American Bar Association provides insurance options for law student members. More information about the ABA and their insurance options can be found at abainsurance.com/student-health/.
Students attending Delaware Law School who are sponsored by a current member of the Delaware Bar may apply for student membership in the Delaware State Bar Association (DSBA). Student members of the DSBA are eligible to apply for health insurance through the DSBA. For more information, visit dsba.org/law-student-membership/.
Tobacco Free Policy
In order to promote a healthy environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors, Widener University is tobacco free on all campuses. The Tobacco Free Policy applies to all university faculty, staff, students, visitors, contractors and guests at all times. The use of tobacco, including smoking, is prohibited within university facilities, outdoor areas, and university owned vehicles.
Beginning in late May, the Law School will follow its summer schedule. Hours are extended Monday through Thursday. All offices will be closed on Friday until Orientation. For specific hours, use office contact information (pdf) to connect with individual offices.
Delaware Law Apparel Shop
The Student Bar Association maintains an apparel shop for Delaware Law items. Visit the shop and show your Delaware Law pride!

Finalize Your Enrollment
Your acceptance is conditioned upon receipt by the Law School of an official transcript showing successful completion of your undergraduate studies and the award of your baccalaureate degree. You MUST submit your final official transcript showing the award of your baccalaureate degree to the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) by August 1st.
Delaware state regulations and Widener University policies require you submit proof that you are fully vaccinated against Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR) and COVID-19 prior to enrollment at Delaware Law. For more information, please review the MMR Immunization Requirement Memorandum (pdf) and Widener University’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. MMR and COVID-19 vaccination records must be submitted separately and according to their individual instructions no later than August 1st.

Widener University provides an online bookstore for all of its schools and campuses. Books may be purchased at any time online but are not available for purchase at the Delaware Law School campus. Students may order their books at their convenience by visiting the Widener University Online Bookstore.
