Guide to Delaware Law’s Relocation

What to know about our exciting move to downtown Wilmington

Widener University Delaware Law School is making a bold move—literally. We’re transitioning out of the campus we’ve long called home and relocating to a place that will super-charge the student experience.

Where are we moving?

Our new campus is located at 1020 N. French St., in the heart of downtown Wilmington—a global center of legal influence. Here’s why we’re thrilled about it:

  • It’s steps away from power players in law and business, including state and federal courts, major firms, a vibrant business district, and Lawyer's Row—a neighborhood packed with private law offices and historic buildings. This puts internships, externships, networking, and more right at students’ fingertips.
  • Legal clinics will operate in the heart of the community that we serve. In our clinics, students provide no-cost, critical legal services to clients across the region under the guidance of faculty who are licensed attorneys.
  • The space will be part of a high-energy hub with multiple educational institutions nearby. This proximity will unlock opportunities for meaningful collaboration and innovation.
  • Students will enjoy all the convenience and amenities downtown Wilmington offers. The surrounding blocks are home to a food hall, coffee shops, ample green space, and a fantastic dining scene—perfect for busy days and evenings out.
  • The building houses all-new facilities, so students will learn amid the backdrop of a modern, beautiful educational space.

When is the move happening?

We expect to relocate for the 2027-2028 academic year. Stay tuned for updates.

Why are we moving?

We encourage our students to continually grow and evolve. Now, it’s our turn. For more than half a century, Delaware Law has been steadfast in our commitment to preparing the next generation of lawyers for a lifetime of success.

When we uncovered an opportunity to relocate to the exact spot where powerhouse lawyers practice and groundbreaking legal decisions are made every day, we knew it’d prove to be a transformative opportunity for our students—and the future of Delaware Law.

While our relocation brings a world of new opportunities, some things never change: Community is created by people, and these people will remain as fiercely dedicated as ever to supporting student success, no matter our address.
