Upon completion of the Language of Justice Court Interpreting Program, students may choose to continue their interpreting lessons to enhance their skills even more in our Court Interpreter: Practice and Skills Training program.
Court Interpreter: Practice and Skills Training
The Court Interpreter: Practice and Skills program is designed to improve the interpreter’s performance. Each interpreter will get a chance to identify the aspects of his/her performance in the three modes of interpreting that needs to be improved and find a way to stretch himself/herself. It is a very specific type of work that an interpreter needs to do. This class is a push beyond the current limit.
In the Court Interpreter: Practice and Skills Training, students will conduct the following:
- Deliberate practice defined
- How to plan and set goals
- Practice Sight translation
- Practice Simultaneous
- Practice Consecutive
- Overview on note-taking
