As demand for skilled paralegals continues to increase, the Graduate, International, Compliance, and Legal Studies Office at Delaware Law School offers both associate’s and bachelor’s degree programs in legal studies.
Taught by our distinguished faculty, who contribute their diverse experience and in-depth knowledge, both online legal studies programs prepare our students well for the administrative aspects of legal work. A paralegal certificate can accompany a bachelor’s degree in legal studies and offers more advanced coursework.
Delaware Law School conveniently offers legal studies programs in a 100% online format.
Students are required to take at least nine semester credits or the equivalent of legal specialty courses through synchronous instruction. Courses taught through remote synchronous instruction include in real-time faculty-to-student and student-to-student interaction.
The online bachelor’s degree (120 credits) provides an in-depth learning experience essential to the paralegal profession, including classes in civil and criminal theory, legal writing, research skills, and procedure. Compared to the associate’s program, the legal studies bachelor’s degree offers advanced paralegal training, additional elective slots, and the opportunity to build a foundation in the humanities through general education requirements.
Upon completion, you earn both a bachelor of science (BS) degree and a paralegal certificate of completion. By consulting with your advisor in choosing legal electives, you can also specialize your paralegal studies certificate of completion, at no additional cost, in one of the following concentrations:

An online legal studies degree prepares students to become paralegals, legal assistants, court interpreters, and other legal support roles. Specifically, legal studies coursework prepares students to work under the supervision of an attorney by building the hands-on skills needed to manage legal documents and generally support casework.
Our curriculum incorporates the option to earn a paralegal certificate so students graduate fully equipped to join this in-demand profession. The skills offered in our online legal studies degree programs could also be the foundation for a Juris Doctor degree or additional legal training.
Students who have already achieved college credits elsewhere may apply to complete their legal studies degree at Delaware Law as a transfer student.
