2017 SUMMER LAW PROGRAMS

U.S. and Foreign-trained students and practitioners

ADVANCE YOUR LEGAL EXPERTISE

Delaware Law School invites applicants to its 2017 Summer Law Programs for U.S. and foreign-trained law students and practitioners. Our three-week immersion programs offer an introduction to the U.S. legal system and various current topics in U.S. Corporate Law. Participants receive an educational and cultural experience in the “Corporate Capital of the U.S.” Attendees gain a strong foundation in U.S. legal concepts.

Excursions included in the program: 

• Washington, D.C. 

• National Constitution Center and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 

• United Nations in New York City

These programs qualify for academic credit and/or a certificate upon successful completion. Participants are eligible to take multiple programs at a special rate.

Choose from our four programs:

June 16 - July 7

Advanced Concepts in Corporate & Business Law

This course explores cutting edge concepts of fiduciary standards of review and standards of conduct arising under the leading Delaware corporate cases in this area, as well as the litigation process. 

Hot Topics in Cybersecurity Law

The course will provide students in the fields of computer fraud investigations and digital forensics with an understanding of the fundamental legal principles governing the collection and use of evidence. The course will also cover federal computer crime statutes and rules of evidence as they relate to computer fraud investigations and digital forensics.

July 11 - July 31

The U.S. Legal System

This is an introductory course which seeks to provide an understanding of the U.S. government and legal system, as well as the basic principles of American law. Through the exploration of cases relating to various legal areas including contracts, torts, property, criminal law and procedure, civil procedure, business law, and family law, and, students will be exposed to the basic tenants of the American legal system. 

Anti-Corruption Law (U.S. and International)

This course provides an overview of the U.S. anti-corruption laws and a comparison with international anti-corruption laws and policies.  Topics include the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the U.K. Bribery Act, compliance and ethics programs for fraud prevention, and will explore the current and potential future state of anti-corruption laws under the new U.S. presidential administration.

Tuition:

$4,500 flat rate for 2 credits or certificate of completion, includes housing and trips; two programs available for $6,500; three programs for $8,500; four programs for $10,500.  Students may take multiple programs simultaneously. Every student will also be required to obtain the mandatory Widener University health insurance at their own expense.

Groups of 8 or more: $4,000 one program; $6,000 two programs; $8,000 three programs; $10,000 four programs.
