Magda Abdo-Gomez received a BA in Mathematics and French from the University of Miami, a JD from the University of Florida and an LLM (Taxation) from the University of Florida. She worked at Robert Feinschreiber and Associates for five months before joining the Chief Counsel’s Office of the Internal Revenue Service in Miami. Her work consisted of all aspects of Tax Court litigation, preparation of defense letters and advisory opinions, and coordination of bankruptcy and refund litigation cases with the United States Attorney and the Department of Justice. She was the first of three attorneys chosen to serve as a Special Assistant United States Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami in conjunction with her duties as an attorney for Chief Counsel's Office. As a Special Assistant US Attorney, she handled all aspects of Bankruptcy Court litigation on behalf of the United States Internal Revenue Service.
After leaving the government, she set up her own firm. Her practice is focused on representing taxpayers in all matters before the IRS, except criminal, consumer bankruptcy cases and probate. She has over 30 years of experience and has appeared in USA Today, Politico, NBC News, Telemundo and the Miami Herald. She has an AV Preeminent rating with Martindale.
Abdo-Gomez been an adjunct professor of law at St. Thomas University of Law since 2005. She teaches Law Office Management, Bankruptcy, and is in charge of the Bankruptcy Clinic. She also taught Debtor Creditor Rights for over 10 years. This is her first semester as an adjunct at Delaware Law School teaching Law Office Management.
She believes that lawyers should give back to their community and regularly works with her local legal aid societies. she has been recognized by Legal Services of Greater Miami, the Bankruptcy Court Southern District of Florida ,and Dade Legal Aid Put Something Back for her pro bono work.
