Restorative Justice: The Marcus Mosiah Garvey Presidential Pardon

Delaware Law School

2/25/2025 11:59am - 2:00pm

All are invited to register to attend two events in celebration of Black History Month in partnership with the Delaware Law School and the Center for Global Africa taking place at the law school next Tuesday, Feb. 25th – (i) a lunch session and (ii) an evening reception & forum.  Please register via the QR Code(s) in the flyer or by using the registration links: (i) Lunch event, and (ii) Evening reception & forum.

Dr. Julius Garvey (son of Marcus Mosiah Garvey) will be with us along with representatives from the judiciary, Akin Gump law firm in D.C., Howard University, the Center for Global Africa, the Delaware Barristers, community and political action committee leaders, and several others. The lunch event will discuss the process and legal case for the Presidential pardon and exoneration efforts underway. The evening session may touch on some of the points as well as provide an opportunity for Dr. Garvey to share more personal insights about himself, his family, and various impacts of the wrongful conviction. See the attached “Garvey – Jailing a Rainbow” PDF for insight about the facts and law involved in the earlier case.

The event will be offered in person and virtually. When you register, please indicate which option you are selecting, and feel free to share the events with others.
