Prof. Beth Jennings is excited to join the Delaware Law School faculty and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in legal information and pedagogy. Before Delaware Law School, Prof. Jennings taught at the University of Utah, S.J. Quinney College of Law, where she was honored with the 2021 AALS Teacher of the Year award and the College of Law Excellence in Teaching award. Prof. Jennings maintains a license in Utah and currently serves on the Utah Supreme Court’s Committee on Resources for Self-Represented Parties. Prof. Jennings is motivated by making legal information accessible to all and led two grant projects that developed accessible legal information about special education law and eviction.
Prior to academia, Prof. Jennings represented LGBTQIA+ clients in private practice the areas of family law, estate planning, and legal gender marker and name changes. They have continued that work as a supervising attorney for the University of Utah's Rainbow Law Clinic. Prof. Jennings began her professional career as a high school teacher and librarian in the New York metro area. This experience continues to impact her approaches to teaching and learning.
Professor Jennings’s scholarship focuses on how accessible legal information can increase access to justice and critical approaches to examining the sources of legal information, including databases and casebooks.
